Junk cars on roads decrease the safety of all traffic participantsTweetDate: Nov 22, 2011 | Views: 8 | Comments: 0 In our modern world cities are connected by a very dense net of roads and highways. Obviously, it is a great comfort, as your car can take you almost everywhere. You have the freedom of choice where to go and where to stop. This, in turn, opens people's minds as they are able to easily visit different places, get to know foreign cultures and mindsets. It is like education through fun, so it is no wonder that there are more cars than drives on the roads right now. Unfortunately, this situation has its disadvantages as well. Every day, thousands of accidents claim many lives and even more people lose their health. Sometimes it is because of drunk or reckless driving, but quite often the reason of an accident is the very bad condition of a car. The sad fact is that there is a great number of junk cars that are driving on every road in most countries. The main reason behind the number of clunkers on roads is the economic situation in the States and Europe. People are getting poorer and poorer, which means they cannot afford changing a vehicle. Cars get old very quickly and sooner or later they demand either a thorough renovation or simply a replacement. When you barely make ends meet the last thing you would spent money on is buying a newer model, so you are stuck with a car the state of which is deteriorating with every kilometer. That, of course, decreases the safety on roads. You can be a master of four wheels, and still there is little you can do when your brakes fail. Moreover, a car is often used as a mean of transport for a whole family. Unfortunately, there is a great number of irresponsible parents, that do not see a problem in having their children in a car that may not react to their commands. What can people who are stuck with junk cars do in such a situation? They often try to sell their cars in order to make some money for a new vehicle, but to no avail. Buyers simply do not look for old clunkers. The owners of failing cars, obviously, cannot buy a new one before they receive money for the old one, so they are stuck in a vicious circle. However, there are companies that will buy any car, whatever is its state, and will pay in cash for it. More and more drivers decide to sell their junk cars for scraping. They receive a starting capital which they can use to purchase a used Opel or Ford. Maybe that is the remedy for the situation on our roads. Thanks to the growing popularity of a scraping business not only do the poorer people have finally a chance to get themselves better vehicles, but also the safety on roads is increasing, slowly but surely. The bad state of cars is obviously only one of the many reasons of accidents. We should not lie to ourselves that replacing all clunkers with new vehicles will put an end to tragic events that happen on everyday basis. However, if by doing it we save even one life more it is definitely a path we should follow.
