Financial Assistance against Mobilization!

Many employers worry that in case of mobilization of reservists, the additional cost that they may have to incur will be huge without any compensation. Well, as an employer there is nothing to worry about. A simple and effective scheme introduced in 2005 takes care of all the extra costs that an employer may have to incur to

  • Recruit
  • Overtime by other employees to cover the work
  • Salary of temporary employee that is usually higher than a permanent one
  • Advertisement and other additional recruitment costs if you decide to do so

The additional claimable amount is about £ 110 a day. This adds up to an amount of £ 40,000 in a year. You do not even have to pay the salary or any other perks to the reservist employee while mobilized. If you do choose to do so then it is not claimable. It is a personal choice that you have made. The above amount is payable as long as your employee is mobilized and you do not recruit any other permanent employee in place of him.

The payments of advertisements and such other costs are usually against an invoice or a bill. There is no outer limit in such a case and no recurring costs will be entertained either. The other claims that can be made by you as an employer include

  • Cost of retraining the reservist. The reservist may need to be updated with the latest development in order for them to take on the duties properly. You will have to provide evidence for the cost of the training though there is no upper limit for cost. The amount is not payable if the reservist was to go for the training either ways.

If you feel that mobilization of the reservist will do a great harm to your business and running it is almost impossible without him, consider applying for exemption, revocation of mobilization or deferral.

The internet has a detailed list of ways of claiming the financial assistance. You can just download the information within minutes from the convenience of your home or office. There are financial advisors too who will guide and help you through the entire process. Taking help from them will certainly make you aware of integrities, save you time and make the entire exercise simple however; they may charge a certain fee.
