On september 9th, the secretary of CPC Chongqing municipal committee, Bo Xilai met with the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre of the United Nations, Ms. Patricia Francis who planed to attend the World Export Development Forum in Si Chuan, the two sides exchanged their views on deepening the bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Patricia Francis was surprised about the rapid economic and social development of Chongqing. She said that before coming to Chongqing, she did not think there was a glamorous city in western China. The meeting was held in Chongqing and it will be helpful for foreign dignitaries and business people to understand the competitive power of Chongqing and break the old idea that the western China is poor and unenlightened. How to turn the developing difficulties and challenges into opportunities, Chongqing set a good example to underdeveloped areas all over the world. There are great potential for Chongqing and the International Trade Center of the United Nations to cooperate, we have developed good cooperation in many aspects such as the development of medium-sized and small enterprises and they hoped to establish long-term mechanism to further promote bilateral cooperation in more fields.

Bo Xilai said that they welcomed Ms. Francis to Chongqing, the meeting was held in Chongqing and it would strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the western China and the world. Although Chongqing was located in the mainland of China (China wholesale), compared with the eastern coastal cities, there were still some distance, but it was a " developing city in rapid development", Chongqing is building an open inland ground and actively exploring a new way to expand the opening up and work hard to cooperate with other countries to promote the powerful Chongqing enterprises to "go out". He hoped that the international trade Center of the United Nations could pay more attention to the development of Chongqing and the western China and promote exchanges and cooperation with each other in more fields.
