Pfunds is located in the Obere Gericht which is the upper part of the Inn Valley at the border to Switzerland. Together with its ski resort Kaunertaler Gletscher it is still widely unkown amongst winter sportsmen. In winter Pfunds offers best conditions not only for beginners but also for snowboarders and freeriders. In summer the region around Pfunds is liked by alpinists and mountainbikers.
Pfunds the the Kaunertal Glacier are characterized by their quiet location. This is mostly appreciated by those who don't like the occassionally quite loud aprés ski at other ski resorts. Moreover, Pfunds has some some cultural highlights and sights to offer. For instance, there are historic houses with free staircases and paintings on their walls in the Engadin style. Also the church Liebfrauenkirche  in Gothic style is worth visiting.
Due to ist geographic location of 970 meters a.s.l. Pfunds and its guests are treated with sunshine at all seasons. It's about 98 km to the regional capital, Innsbruck.
Pfunds has about 2500 inhabitants and many hotels in Pfunds offer accommodation for guests and  do their best to make your stay there a pleasurable one. Those who prefer self catering may choose from a wide range of holiday apartments. Another option are the beautiful boarding houses that have a special charme and will give you a glimpse of Austrian tradition.
As the place is not as popular as, for example, St Anton it shouldn't be a problem to find accommodation even during the peak season.
The ski resort Kaunertaler Gletscher  is oner of the smaller ski resorts in Austria and offers man kilometers of great trails that are perfectly groomed  as well as some ungroomed ones. Modern lifts will bring you uphill. Due to its great grooming and its many easiest trails Kaunertaler Gletscher is a resort that will mostly be appreciated by beginners.  Most recommendable are the two Weißseefern runs. Of course, there are also some ski school with dedicated staff that will help you with your first turns.
